Job Title: Estimator
Status: Full Time (Direct Hire)
Work Type: Hybrid (Minimum 2 days on-site per week)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Location: Brooklyn Park 
Pay: $60,000–$80,000

Job Summary
Join our custom design/build team as an Estimator and play a key role in bringing imaginative, one-of-a-kind interpretive exhibits to life. This hybrid role blends creative collaboration with precise cost analysis, supporting projects from concept through final production. You’ll partner with designers, engineers, and fabricators to ensure each project is both exceptional and financially sound.
 
Key Responsibilities
In-House Design Projects
  1. Collaborate with design teams to review drawings from concept through final design.
  2. Clarify design intent and fabrication strategies, suggest value-engineering solutions.
  3. Use historical project data to estimate labor, materials, and subcontractor costs.
  4. Identify cost-saving alternatives while maintaining design integrity.
Sales & Bidding Projects
  1. Review build-only bid packages for custom elements (cabinetry, scenic, etc.).
  2. Generate RFIs to clarify design and fabrication expectations.
  3. Assess profitability of potential projects and attend pre-bid meetings as needed.
Cost Tracking & Market Research
  1. Track actual job costs to evaluate estimate accuracy.
  2. Stay current on material, hardware, and shipping market rates.
  3. Partner with design and fabrication managers to recommend cost-effective methods.
Culture & Collaboration
  1. Participate in company events and support a collaborative, cross-functional culture.
  2. Build strong working relationships across departments.
Qualifications
  1. 10+ years of fabrication experience (exhibits, architectural millwork, or related industries preferred).
  2. Skilled in reading and interpreting CAD drawings, design drawings, and blueprints.
  3. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
  5. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
