Job Summary:
The Applications Manager provides strategic and hands-on leadership for the development, delivery, and long-term support of enterprise web and mobile applications. This role is responsible for leading two application development teams of approximately 6–8 employees each, driving technical direction while developing strong, accountable team leaders and individual contributors. The position balances people leadership, technical oversight, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure applications are scalable, secure, and aligned with business objectives. The ideal candidate is an experienced technology leader who excels at mentoring teams, managing complex workloads, and translating technical initiatives into measurable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead, coach, and develop two application development teams, fostering accountability, engagement, and professional growth
• Provide clear direction, performance management, and mentorship to team leads and developers
• Oversee the design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of web and mobile applications
• Remain hands-on as needed to review code, assess architecture, identify risks, and guide technical decisions
• Establish and maintain scalable development standards, best practices, and SDLC processes
• Drive cross-training initiatives to build versatile, resilient teams and reduce single points of failure
• Manage development backlogs, priorities, timelines, and resource allocation across teams
• Communicate project status, risks, and outcomes clearly to leadership and business stakeholders
• Partner with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and reliable deployments
• Collaborate with business leaders and third-party vendors to align technology solutions with operational goals
• Ensure strong quality assurance, testing, and problem management practices
• Support post-deployment application stability in coordination with operations and support teams
• Lead process improvement initiatives and support organizational change efforts
• Manage budgets, forecasting, and vendor relationships related to application development
•    Provide leadership support outside of standard business hours as needed

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in web and mobile application development
• Proven leadership experience managing multiple development teams simultaneously
• Demonstrated success leading teams of 6–8+ employees, including coaching, performance management, and career development
• Experience delivering moderately to highly complex applications into production environments
• Strong understanding of system architecture, technical design, and integration-based development (REST APIs, SOAP)
• Experience managing development efforts using Agile or other SDLC methodologies
• Expertise across front-end and back-end application technologies
• Knowledge of cloud, virtualized environments, and modern application platforms
• Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
• Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, business-focused recommendations
• Proven ability to build trust, influence stakeholders, and lead through collaboration
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
•    Willingness to travel occasionally, including overnight travel

Working Conditions:
This position is primarily office-based and requires extended periods of computer and screen use. The role involves frequent collaboration with internal teams, leadership, and external partners through meetings, calls, and virtual platforms. Occasional out-of-state travel may be required. The work environment is professional, fast-paced, and leadership-focused.
