Great River Energy is currently looking for a Civil Engineering Intern who will be responsible for performing engineering design, project management and technical support for transmission line design projects.  

Job Responsibilities:

1. Performing engineering on transmission line design projects to ensure safe, reliable, high-quality, cost-efficient, reliable designs.
2. Providing technical support to other GRE engineers, the Land Rights and Environmental department, field technicians, operators, and others to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the GRE transmission system.
3. Participating on cross-functional teams responsible for developing and updating internal GRE design standards and equipment specifications to ensure consistent, high-quality designs.

1. Currently enrolled in bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.  
2. Basic knowledge of engineering/science principles and safety.
3. Verbal and written communication skills.
4. Ability to research, analyze, and make recommendations related to engineering decisions.
5. Ability to work within a team environment.
6. Demonstrated project management skills. 
7. Demonstrated experience in utilizing problem solving skills to address primarily technical nature issues.

Much of the work will be in a normal office environment with some work being performed in the field at construction sites. Office work involves working at a computer station for long periods of time.  Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.

Duration of the internship will be PT during the school year (minimum of 8-10 hours/week) and FT during Summer/Breaks in a hybrid work environment.
