Salary:
$35.00-$45.00/hr.

Description:
Great River Energy is looking to fill a Data Analytics contractor position with responsibilities for providing data science expertise and support to business needs involving electric transmission substation assets.

This opportunity resides on the Field Services team located at our Elk River facility and may require some work occasionally on-site at other facilities.  This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Involves collaboration with data science professionals throughout the organization.
 
Job Responsibilities:
 
  1. Collaborate with diverse stakeholder audiences to develop analytic models, forecasts, and visualizations involving major electrical transmission system asset utilization, performance, condition, and optimization (data may reside across the asset, supply-chain, and work management process streams)
  2. Data trending of substation equipment
  3. Provide technical skills, electrical knowledge, and research support towards efforts to update major system asset replacement rankings using established methodologies.
  4. Specific work duties may evolve or expand based on experience gained and business requirements driven by regulatory changes and expanding opportunities.
 
Duties will involve working extensively with, but not exclusively:
  1. Engineering design documentation
  2. System planning data.
  3. Multiple enterprise software systems and related databases (e.g., ERP, Asset, Work, and Materials management, project scheduling, SCADA, energy management, etc.)
  4. Asset condition and inspection data
  5. Microsoft ecosystem application and tools (e.g., Access, Excel, Power BI, Power Automate, etc.)
  6. ESRI Geographic Information System (GIS)
Requirements:
Job or research-related data science work including data wrangling, optimization model development, mathematical and statistical analysis in an electricity-related domain or comparable context will be beneficial.  Knowledge of common electrical units of measure is essential. Very strong research, analytical, organizational, and communication skills required.     Experience working with interactive visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Advance Excel, or Python will be beneficial.
 
  1. Ability to communicate in an effective manner.
  2. Ability to independently plan, organize, and prioritize time/workload.
  3. Self-motivated, work independently and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.  
  4. Skill in logical problem-solving with the ability to thoroughly research issues and analyze various types of information.
  5. Experienced with data exploration techniques, including data mining, ETL, data analysis, predictive analysis, analytical reporting, data visualization, and business intelligence in general.
  6. Familiarity with data security concepts
  7. Ability to follow security procedures, including providing immediate notification of potential incidents.
  8. Ability to work with and maintain confidential information
 
 
Physical Requirements:
The work will be performed in an office environment with occasional travel to electrical substation sites. The ability to view, interpret, and process information via a computer monitor for extended periods of time during normal working hours is required clearly and comfortably.  Some tasks may require repetitive motions, i.e., computer work. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.
