Knowledge typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent is required.  Must be enrolled in college in a security curriculum. Experience in IT with basic computer, application, and networking knowledge to understand and apply security practices. IT work experience is preferred, but not required.  

Salary$24 - $29/hr

Great River Energy is seeking an IT Security Intern to assist security operations with daily security monitoring tasks supporting critical infrastructure. Provide security analysts with support to monitor and analyze reported phishing emails, assist with documentation updates, reporting security information, and assigned specific analysis for threats or incidents within GRE.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Daily review employee reporting phishing mailbox and complete actions based on defined procedures.
  2. Daily monitoring of security mailbox. Ticket and handle requests following procedures.
  3. Escalate issues or anomalies found in phish mailbox and/or monitoring tools as necessary within IT and coordinate resolution.
  4. Respond to any security detections from our end point threat tools following procedures and escalation protocols.
  5. Complete cyber action reviews for reported interesting network traffic activity identified by security tools and notify any GRE members of activity as defined in our CRISP handling procedures.  
  6. Partner with other IT security staff to support current projects and daily tasks related to security operations.
  7. Coordinate small IT projects of limited scope and complexity and participate in larger IT projects to meet established schedules and budgets. This would include projects such as endpoint detection and response, managed detection and response, or vulnerability assessment.

Requirements
  1. Knowledge typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent is required.  Must be enrolled in college in a security curriculum.  Experience in IT with basic computer, application, and networking knowledge to understand and apply security practices. IT work experience is preferred, but not required.  
  2. General knowledge of computer systems, hardware, and software applications. 
  3. Must have a general understanding of knowledge of basic computer networking principles and designs.
  4. Ability to manage multiple tasks and identify when escalation is necessary to complete assignments. 
  5. Communicating effectively with technical level and non-technical personnel at all levels. 
  6. Must have analytical, interpretive, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Office Products.

Physical Requirements
Much of the work will be in a normal office environment. Office work involves working at a computer station for long periods of time. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.
 
We provide competitive internship pay.
Duration of the internship will be PT during the school year (minimum of 10 hours/week) and FT during Summer/Breaks.
