Pay: $35.98 per hour

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic Intern will support mechanical maintenance activities within an industrial power generation facility during the Summer 2026 internship program. This role offers practical, hands-on experience working alongside skilled mechanics and technicians to maintain critical plant systems. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, mechanically inclined, and interested in applying classroom knowledge to real-world maintenance operations. This internship provides valuable exposure to preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices in a safety-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to support plant reliability
• Work with mechanical systems including pumps, motors, gearboxes, boilers, conveyors, valves, scrubbers, and precipitators
• Support basic fabrication, welding, rigging, and alignment tasks under supervision
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, P&IDs, and vendor manuals
• Document maintenance activities using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
• Assist with maintaining and updating plant documentation and drawings
• Follow all safety, environmental, and operational procedures
• Collaborate with maintenance team members on daily tasks and special projects
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas at all times
Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in a mechanical maintenance, welding, pipefitting, or related technical program
• Basic mechanical aptitude with an interest in troubleshooting and repair
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as blueprints and schematics
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Willingness to learn, follow direction, and adhere to safety procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
Working Conditions:
This position operates in an industrial power generation environment, both indoors and outdoors. Interns may be exposed to extreme temperatures, noise, dust, fumes, and moving equipment. The role requires frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting between 20–50 pounds. Use of personal protective equipment is required, and occasional confined-space work may be necessary.
