Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated Landscaping Intern to support the maintenance, design, and ongoing development of the 12.5-acre corporate campus in Maple Grove, MN. This is a hands-on internship that offers valuable experience in horticulture, native plant care, landscape planning, and grounds maintenance within a sustainability-driven setting. Working alongside the facilities team, landscape architects, and contracted vendors, you will assist with day-to-day grounds work, help implement landscape improvements, and contribute to preserving the ecological health and aesthetic appeal of the campus.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with designing and planning landscaping features, including flowerbeds, shrubs, trees, turf, and native prairie areas
• Support the maintenance and documentation of care plans for over 120 campus trees
• Perform general groundskeeping and seasonal landscaping tasks alongside facilities staff
• Coordinate with contracted landscaping and arborist teams for planting, pruning, and enhancement projects
• Provide direction to contractors to ensure work aligns with approved plans and standards
• Collaborate with landscape architects on the execution and refinement of design plans
• Assist with communications and coordination involving local city, county, or state agencies on landscaping requirements
Requirements:
• Currently enrolled in landscaping, horticulture, grounds management, or a related academic program
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, safety-focused, and able to follow detailed instructions
• Prior landscaping or outdoor work experience preferred but not required
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
Working Conditions:
• Indoor and outdoor work, including during extreme temperatures
• Ability to navigate uneven terrain and natural outdoor environments
• Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, heights, and other environmental elements
• Occasional overtime, weekend work, or overnight travel
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting 20–50 lbs (with occasional lifting up to 75 lbs)
• Occasional kneeling, crouching, climbing, twisting, crawling, and confined-space entry
• Frequent pushing, pulling, carrying, grasping, and fine hand manipulation
• Must be able to distinguish colors, communicate clearly, and hear effectively
Internship Duration:
Full-time, 40 hours per week from May–August 2026
