Great River Energy is seeking a Project Controls intern responsible for monitoring costs and schedules of major projects and supporting project managers to identify corrective actions. This position will be located in Maple Grove MN at our headquarters with the eligibility to work in a hybrid environment.  

Job responsibilities may include:
  1. Create and maintain project dashboards for cost and schedule performance in Power BI.
  2. Prepare, develop, and maintain detailed resource- and cost-loaded project schedules and estimates for transmission and substation projects.
  3. Analyze historical costs and schedules to indicate schedule and cost deviations. Work with project managers to resolve issues. 
  4. Develops and maintains effective working relationship with Great River Energy employees to support effective business processes and methods.
  5. Support project managers with any necessary aspect of the project execution.
  6. Learn and document project management processes.

Requirements
  1. Must be enrolled in college in and have attained the second year status in an engineering, construction management, or related technical field. Preference that scheduling and estimating courses are completed. 
  2. Proficient skills in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Access) and PowerBI
  3. Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships
  4. Ability to problem solve, resolve conflict, negotiate, and make decisions
  5. Ability to communicate in an effective manner, both written and verbal
  6. Ability to manage multiple tasks
  7. Ability to be productive and business focused
  8. Ability to work in a fast paced team environment

Physical Requirements
Much of the work will be in a normal office environment with some work being performed in the field at construction sites. Office work involves working at a computer station for long periods of time.  Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.

Duration of the internship will be part-time during the school year (minimum of 10 hours/week) and full-time during summer/breaks.
