Status: Full Time (Temp-to-Hire)
Work Type: In Person
Shift: Monday–Thursday | 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Pay: $24.00–$28.00 per hour (DOE)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Punch Press Setup Operator to join a fast-paced, high-quality metal stamping team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and maintaining punch press machines to ensure precise, efficient production of metal components. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with stamping operations, and a proactive approach to safety and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
• Read and interpret job orders, blueprints, and work instructions to determine required press setup
• Install and secure tooling, dies, punches, and fixtures on presses
• Conduct trial runs and make necessary adjustments to achieve accurate tolerances
• Monitor press performance including speed, stroke, and scrap rate
• Perform preventive maintenance and light repairs to tooling and press components
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues such as misfeeds, burrs, jams, or defects
• Collaborate with the quality team to inspect parts and maintain SPC or quality records
• Document setup details, tooling changes, and production results accurately
• Ensure compliance with all safety, housekeeping, and lockout/tagout procedures
• Partner with engineering and toolroom staff to implement setup and tooling improvements

Qualifications:
• Previous experience setting up and operating punch presses (5–100 ton range preferred)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
• Ability to interpret blueprints, GD&T, and tooling drawings
• Skilled in using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges)
• Familiarity with SPC, first article inspection, and quality systems
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to consistent quality output
• Effective communicator and team player
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs safely and stand for extended periods
• Willingness to work four 10-hour shifts per week

Working Conditions:
This position is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, moving parts, and moderate noise. Standing, bending, lifting, and handling tooling are routine aspects of the job. Proper PPE must be worn at all times, and adherence to company safety and housekeeping standards is required.
