Job Title: Torch Cutter
Status: Full Time
Work Type: In person (Temp to Hire)
Shift: M-F 7am-3:30pm with OT on Saturdays as needed
Pay: $23-$24/hr 

Job Summary:
The position of Laborer/Equipment Operator/Torch Cutter is responsible for examining metal to ensure proper size specifications. The role includes operating an oxy-propane torch to cut metal, maintaining and cleaning equipment, and being cross-trained on heavy machinery such as excavators, backhoes, crane loaders, skid loaders, and forklifts.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Operate material handling equipment including front loader, skid steer, and forklift
  2. Torch and cut scrap metal of various sizes using an oxygen/natural gas torch
  3. Perform pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections
  4. Wear and maintain proper PPE, including respirator and face mask
  5. Interact daily with field and management personnel
  6. Adhere to safety and environmental standards
  7. Assist with yard/facility clean-up and maintenance
  8. Maintain a safe torching environment for fire control
  9. Work overtime as needed, including early mornings, late evenings, and Saturdays

Qualifications:
  1. Experience with equipment operation such as skid steer, forklift, and front loader preferred
  2. Previous torching experience in scrap processing preferred
  3. Understanding of oxy-propane gas torch setup, usage, and safety procedures
  4. Familiarity with PPE, including respirators and face shields
  5. Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
  6. Comfortable working outdoors

 Education and Experience:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
  2. Willing to train candidates without metals knowledge
  3. Experience with forklift, bobcat, or front loader required
  4. Strong active listening and time management skills
  5. Dependable with a mature attitude

Working Conditions:
Physical requirements include sitting, standing, bending, and twisting for long periods. May require lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
